That's me too!!! When I'm the patient! You've all heard advertisements of "sedation dentistry". Make sure you check the fee. We have nitrous oxide sedation (at a small fee) available to all adult patients. Relaxation pills are also available.
Unlike many Doctors, I WILL NOT administer nitrous oxide to anyone less than 18 yrs of age, unless medical conditions of the patient indicate need for same, and I have discussed it with the patient's Physician and parent/guardian. I did years ago, as was the normal way, but I now will not be the first to administer a mind altering drug to a child unless the foregoing parameters are met. I prescribe oral preoperative agents to reduce anxiety at no additional charge (better living through safe chemistry!) to people of all ages, depending on medical history, but I know my limits. Beware of dentists acting like anesthetists unless they are fully certified to perform the type of anesthesia you need. Some dentists are also boarded in anesthesia (more than sedation) , others use doctors specializing in anesthesia with them, to which I will refer you if needed. Bottom line is, if you're nervous about being in a dental chair, you're NORMAL!! We can help most of you at little or no charge (although you may have to find a driver), or we can refer you to someone who can, SAFELY!
